Important info please read

Candidates are to arrive at the test centre 15 minutes prior to the start of the test. Candidates must wear a face mask before entering the building. You must bring your valid signed GB (or Northern Ireland) photo card driving licence. Northern Ireland licence holders testing in GB must present both their photo card licence and paper counterpart. Failure to do so will result in the candidate being unable to sit the test and forfeiting the fee.

Cancelling Test - To change or cancel your booking, you must give at least FIVE clear working days notice before your test date to avoid losing your test fee.

Please ensure that the details listed above are correct. If any details are not correct, please email theorycustomerservices@dvsa.gov.uk or call 0300 200 1122.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  1. General information
    • This is a standalone DVSA practical test booking. It does not include driving lessons, an instructor, or a test car. You must arrange lessons (if needed) and make sure you have a suitable, insured car for the test.
    • Your booking is confirmed when a DVSA reference number is created. We aim to provide this within 24 hours of payment (Mon–Fri, excluding bank holidays).
    • You may not receive an email confirmation from the DVSA. Once your reference is provided, you can check your booking online at gov.uk/check-driving-test. Re-entering your candidate details on that page may generate a DVSA booking confirmation, but it is not necessary.
    • Practical tests can be taken in automatic or manual. The licence outcome is determined by the car you bring to the test, not the booking itself. Make sure the car matches the type of test you intend to take.
    • Contact us for anything related to your test: info@lidt.co.uk
    • Please read the official DVSA guidance:
      DVSA Driving Test Guidance
      Ready to Pass?
  2. Fees
    • DVSA fee: £62.00.
    • DVSA fee surcharge for weekend, bank holiday: £13.00.
    • LIDT administration fee: starts from £73.00.
    • Non-Refundable Card transaction fee: 3.5%.
    • If a swap restriction is identified that prevents us from completing the booking on the DVSA system, a refund will be issued. The 3.5% card transaction fee is non-refundable and will be retained.
  3. Cancellations
    • The DVSA cancellation deadline is 10 full working days before your test (approximately 2 weeks). No refunds or changes are possible after this point.
    • You must email us at least 3 working days before the DVSA deadline to allow us time to process your cancellation request.
    • Please refrain from cancelling your test yourself. If we handle the cancellation, we are able to verify the DVSA refund directly, which makes the process faster and simpler for you.
    • If you do cancel your own test, you will need to contact the DVSA to obtain written confirmation that your test has been cancelled and the refund has been issued, and forward this to us before we are able to process your DVSA fee refund.
    • Upon successful cancellation, only the DVSA fee will be refunded. The administration fee and transaction fee are non-refundable under all circumstances.
    • If you cancel less than 10 working days before the test, no refund will be issued.
    • If we have not responded by 10:00 PM on the DVSA cancellation deadline, cancel your test yourself via the DVSA website and email us immediately with your DVSA cancellation confirmation so we can process your DVSA fee refund.
  4. Changing Your Test
    • Due to recent DVSA policy changes, we are no longer able to reschedule or manage your existing booking on your behalf. If you wish to move to a different test date, your existing booking will need to be cancelled and a new booking made.
    • If you find a suitable slot on our website, you may email us with the details or book the new test directly through our website to secure the slot. Do not cancel your existing booking, as we will need to verify the DVSA refund on your behalf. If you cancel your own test, we will require a confirmation email from the DVSA confirming the cancellation and refund before we are able to process your DVSA fee refund.
    • Only the DVSA fee from your original booking will be refunded upon cancellation. The full administration fee will apply to the new booking and is non-refundable.
    • If you cannot find a suitable slot and are unable to attend your test, please follow the cancellation process. Once cancelled, you are welcome to join our waitlist or book a new test through our website at any time.
    • Changes can only be made before the last cancellation date shown on your booking confirmation. No changes or refunds will be provided after this date.

If you change your test outside LIDT

    • If you or a third party change your test directly, LIDT will not be involved and we will not accept any further requests in relation to that booking.
    • Administration and card transaction fees are non-refundable.
    • The DVSA fee is refundable only if the original test is cancelled, not swapped.
  5. Test day

    Bring

    • UK provisional driving licence.
    • Theory test pass certificate.
    • A DVSA-compliant, roadworthy, taxed, and insured car (your own or your instructor’s).

    Be ready

    • Be able to read a number plate from 20 metres.
    • Arrive 5 minutes early and be ready to start on time.
    • Failure to meet requirements may lead to test termination with no refund.
  6. Vehicles and transmission
    • The DVSA does not supply cars for tests. Your payment to LIDT covers the booking only.
    • The licence outcome (manual or automatic) depends on the car you bring, not how the test was booked.
    • Check DVSA rules for using your own car at gov.uk/driving-test/using-your-own-car.
  7. Third-party access and security
    • If you have shared your licence number, theory test pass number, or booking details with an instructor or any third party, they may change or cancel your test. You are responsible for preventing third-party interference.
    • You can ask the DVSA to add a password to your booking (0300 200 1122). This may prevent LIDT from making changes for you.
    • LIDT is not responsible for any changes made by DVSA or third parties.
  8. Liability and costs
    • Do not hire a test car or book time off until you have your DVSA reference number.
    • Once you have your reference number, it is your responsibility to confirm your test details are correct. We recommend checking at gov.uk/check-driving-test. Re-entering your candidate details there will also ensure your email address is correct for DVSA notifications.
    • LIDT is not liable for car rental or other costs if a test is cancelled, moved, or does not go ahead (DVSA action, weather, vehicle/documents, third-party changes, or similar).
    • LIDT is not liable for losses not reasonably foreseeable or for matters beyond the reasonable control of you, LIDT, or any ADI.
    • LIDT is not responsible for tests moved or cancelled by the DVSA; they will notify you (and us) directly.
    • Where a rescheduling attempt results in the loss of one or both tests, we may, at our discretion, assist in securing an alternative booking; however, we shall not be liable for any losses, costs, damages, or compensation arising from such rescheduling failure, including but not limited to test fees, consequential losses, or missed appointments.
  9. Weather and examiner cancellations
    • The DVSA may cancel tests due to weather or examiner absence.
    • If DVSA cancels, they rebook automatically and usually notify you within a few days.
    • On poor-weather days, contact DVSA to confirm if your test will go ahead.
    • You may be able to claim out-of-pocket expenses from the DVSA, subject to their rules.
