General terms
- These Terms & Conditions govern all standalone driving test bookings made through LIDT. By registering, requesting a quotation, or completing a purchase, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.
- A standalone fast track driving test booking does not include driving lessons, an instructor, or the provision of a vehicle. You are solely responsible for arranging any required lessons and for providing a suitable, insured, taxed, and roadworthy vehicle for the test.
- A test appointment shall only be treated as secured once a DVSA reference number has been issued and provided to you by email. LIDT shall not be liable for any costs incurred prior to an appointment being treated as secured.
- You may not receive an email confirmation from the DVSA. Once your reference is provided, you can check your booking online at gov.uk/check-driving-test.
- Standalone driving test bookings are not restricted to manual or automatic. No transmission option is selected at the time of booking. The licence outcome is determined solely by the transmission type of the vehicle presented on the test day, and you may change transmission by arranging a suitable vehicle for the test.
- Contact us for anything related to your test: info@lidt.co.uk
- Please read the official DVSA guidance:
– DVSA Driving Test Guidance
– Ready to Pass? - All LIDT administration fees and 3.5% card transaction fees are strictly non-refundable.
- If you wish to change your test, you must book a new test through our website. The administration fee from your original booking is non-refundable and the full administration fee will apply to the new booking. Only the DVSA fee from your original booking will be refunded once we have processed the cancellation.
- Our terms are subject to change at any time in order to remain in line with new rules or restrictions introduced by the DVSA. It is your responsibility to review the latest terms before making a request.
-
Booking routes
- LIDT provides more than one route by which a standalone driving test may be obtained. Availability, pricing, and outcomes vary depending on the route selected.
Assisted search and quotation booking
- By registering for an assisted search, you authorise LIDT to search for driving test appointments on your behalf.
- Registration does not constitute confirmation of a test appointment and does not guarantee that an appointment will be identified.
- Where an appointment is identified, LIDT shall issue a quotation and provide you with the option to proceed. Quotation pricing is determined by test banding, which is assessed by reference to test centre demand, the proximity of the test date, and prevailing availability and demand at the relevant test centre. Prices for quotation-based bookings start from £140.00 and may increase depending on the applicable test band and availability at the time the quotation is issued.
- A test appointment shall only be treated as secured once the quotation has been accepted and payment has been received in full within the specified time period. Where payment is not received within that period, LIDT reserves the right to cancel, amend, or release the appointment without notice and without liability.
- Prices issued via quotation may be lower than prices offered via instant purchase. No representation is made as to the availability, timing, or price of any quotation.
Instant purchase appointments
- Instant purchase appointments are cancellation test appointments advertised on the LIDT website and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. By selecting an advertised appointment and completing payment, you instruct LIDT to attempt to secure the appointment at the advertised price.
- Cancellation test appointments are subject to DVSA swap restrictions and availability. While LIDT successfully secures most instant purchase appointments, no guarantee is given that any selected appointment can be secured. An appointment shall only be treated as secured once a DVSA reference number has been issued and provided to you by email.
- Where an instant purchase appointment cannot be secured, a refund will be issued. Where the inability to secure the appointment arises from licence restrictions, eligibility issues, an expired theory test, or blocks on the licence that prevent booking, the 3.5% card transaction fee will be retained and is non-refundable.
- Prices for instant purchase appointments reflect limited availability, administrative requirements, and market demand and are generally higher than prices offered through quotation-based bookings.
- By completing an instant purchase, you acknowledge that you have elected not to register for a potentially lower-priced quotation and accept that instant purchase pricing may exceed quotation-based rates.
-
Test banding
- Test appointments are categorised into three test bands: A, B and C.
- Test banding is determined by factors including (without limitation) test centre demand, appointment availability, the proximity of the test date, and prevailing market demand.
- Tests at high-demand test centres with limited availability and test dates within approximately 2–4 weeks will generally be categorised as band A.
- Tests at high-demand test centres with availability several months in advance may be categorised as band C.
- Tests at lower-demand test centres may be categorised as band C even where the test date is within approximately 2–4 weeks.
- Test band categorisation is determined by LIDT at the time of quotation or listing and may change without notice prior to acceptance and payment.
- The applicable test band forms part of the price offered and is not subject to challenge once payment has been completed.
-
Pricing and fees
- All prices are variable and are determined by availability, demand, test banding, timing, and booking route. LIDT does not offer fixed pricing.
- Prices displayed or quoted are valid only at the time shown and may change without notice until payment is completed.
- DVSA test fee: £62.00.
- DVSA fee surcharge for weekend, bank holiday: £13.00.
- LIDT administration fee: variable.
- Card transaction fee: 3.5% per transaction.
- Rescheduling via LIDT (before the DVSA deadline), where permitted: £25.00 per permitted change.
- Card transaction fees are charged per transaction and are non-refundable except where expressly stated otherwise in these Terms & Conditions.
-
Cancellations
- The DVSA cancellation deadline is 10 full working days before the test date (approximately 2 weeks). No refunds or changes are permitted after this deadline.
- All cancellation requests must be submitted to LIDT by email at least 3 working days before the DVSA cancellation deadline to allow sufficient time for the request to be processed.
- You must not cancel your existing booking directly. LIDT will process the cancellation on your behalf. Where LIDT manages the cancellation, we are able to verify the DVSA refund directly, which ensures a faster and more straightforward process.
- Where you cancel your booking directly with the DVSA, rather than through LIDT, you will be required to obtain and provide written confirmation from the DVSA that the booking has been cancelled and that the DVSA fee refund has been issued. No refund will be processed by LIDT until such confirmation has been received.
- Upon successful cancellation, only the DVSA fee shall be refunded. The administration fee and transaction fee are non-refundable under all circumstances.
- Where a cancellation request is made after the DVSA cancellation deadline, no refund of any kind will be issued.
- Where LIDT has not responded to a cancellation request by 10:00 PM on the DVSA cancellation deadline, you must cancel your booking directly via the DVSA website and notify LIDT immediately by email, providing confirmation of the cancellation and the DVSA fee refund.
- Where you cancel or change your booking outside of LIDT, including directly via the DVSA or through a third party, the administration fee and card transaction fee are non-refundable.
-
Changing Your Test
- Where you wish to change your test date, you may either book a new test through the LIDT website or request a cancellation in accordance with the Cancellations section of these Terms & Conditions.
- Where a new test is booked through the LIDT website, LIDT will process the cancellation of your existing booking on your behalf. You must not cancel your existing booking directly. The administration fee and transaction fee from your original booking are non-refundable. Only the DVSA fee from your original booking shall be refunded, subject to confirmation that the DVSA refund has been issued.
- Where you cancel your existing booking directly, rather than allowing LIDT to do so, you will be required to obtain and provide written confirmation from the DVSA that the booking has been cancelled and that the DVSA fee refund has been issued before any refund can be processed by LIDT.
- Where no suitable slot is available on the LIDT website and you are unable to attend your existing test, you must submit a cancellation request in accordance with the Cancellations section of these Terms & Conditions. Once cancellation has been processed, you may book a new test through the LIDT website or register for the waitlist at any time.
- No changes may be made after the DVSA cancellation deadline. No refunds will be issued in respect of any request made after this date.
- Card transaction fees are non-refundable. Where multiple bookings are made, each transaction fee will be charged and retained.
Where your test is changed outside of LIDT
- Where you or a third party change your test directly with the DVSA or through another provider, LIDT will not be involved and will not accept any further requests in relation to that booking.
- The administration fee and card transaction fee are non-refundable in such circumstances.
- The DVSA fee is refundable only where the original test is cancelled. No refund of the DVSA fee will be issued where the original test is swapped rather than cancelled.
-
Test day requirements
Bring
- UK provisional driving licence.
- Theory test pass certificate.
- A DVSA-compliant, roadworthy, taxed, and insured vehicle.
Be ready
- Be able to read a number plate from 20 metres.
- Arrive 5 minutes early and be ready to start on time.
- Failure to meet DVSA requirements may result in termination of the test without refund.
-
Vehicles and licence outcome
- The DVSA does not provide test vehicles, and LIDT does not supply vehicles for standalone test bookings. You are solely responsible for arranging any vehicle required for the test. LIDT accepts no liability for vehicle-related costs.
- The licence outcome is determined solely by the transmission type of the vehicle presented.
- Check DVSA rules for using your own car at gov.uk/driving-test/using-your-own-car.
-
Third-party access and security
- If you have shared your licence number, theory test pass number, or booking details with an instructor or any third party, they may change or cancel your test. You are responsible for preventing third-party interference.
- You can ask the DVSA to add a password to your booking (0300 200 1122). This may restrict our ability to act on your behalf.
- LIDT is not responsible for any changes made by the DVSA or third parties.
- Customers are advised to set a security password on their DVSA appointment to prevent unauthorised amendments. The act of placing a password confirms acceptance of the appointment secured on your behalf and constitutes acknowledgment of the agreed service and full payment obligation.
-
Liability and costs
- The service provided by LIDT is the securing of a driving test appointment on your behalf. That service is fully delivered and completed at the point at which a DVSA booking reference number is issued and provided to you. LIDT bears no responsibility or liability for any matter arising after that point.
- You must not incur costs, including vehicle hire, travel, accommodation, deposits, or time off work, prior to a test appointment being treated as secured. Where such costs are incurred and a test cannot be secured, LIDT shall not be liable for any resulting losses or expenses.
- Upon receipt of your DVSA reference number, it is your sole responsibility to verify that your test has been booked at the correct date, time, and location. You must check your booking on the day it is secured, on the day prior to your test, and on the day of your test, to confirm that no changes, cancellations, or amendments have occurred.
- LIDT is under no obligation to monitor your booking, check for cancellations, or notify you of any changes made to your appointment after the booking reference number has been issued. Any such changes are outside the scope of the service provided by LIDT.
- LIDT is not liable for any costs or losses arising where a test is cancelled, moved, or does not proceed, including where this results from DVSA action, weather, vehicle or documentation issues, third-party interference, or any other reason beyond LIDT's control.
- LIDT is not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable at the time the booking was made, or for matters beyond the reasonable control of you, LIDT, or any ADI.
- LIDT is not responsible for tests moved or cancelled by the DVSA. The DVSA will notify you directly of any such changes. It is your responsibility to act on any such notification accordingly.
- LIDT reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions at any time where changes to DVSA policy, rules, or operational restrictions conflict with or otherwise affect existing terms. Where such changes occur, these Terms & Conditions will be updated accordingly to reflect any new limitations or restrictions imposed by the DVSA.
-
Weather and examiner cancellations
- The DVSA may cancel or reschedule your test due to weather, examiner availability, or operational reasons. This is outside the control of LIDT and does not affect the status of the service already delivered. The LIDT administration fee and transaction fee remain non-refundable in all such circumstances.
- Where the DVSA reschedules your test, you are responsible for contacting the DVSA directly to confirm the new date and time. It is your responsibility to accept or manage any rescheduled appointment with the DVSA.
- You must not accept or act upon any suggestion from the DVSA to cancel your booking in the expectation of a full refund. The DVSA may, in some circumstances, encourage candidates to cancel rather than rescheduling. If you cancel your booking as a result of such encouragement, the LIDT administration fee and transaction fee will be forfeited and are non-refundable.
- Where you are genuinely unable to attend the date and time provided by the DVSA following a reschedule, and the DVSA is unable to offer a suitable alternative, you must request a cancellation directly from the DVSA. You must ensure that the DVSA confirms in writing that your booking has been cancelled and that the DVSA fee refund has been issued. Upon receipt of that written confirmation forwarded to LIDT, we will refund the DVSA fee only. The LIDT administration fee and transaction fee remain non-refundable.
- LIDT will not assist in sourcing alternative test appointments in connection with DVSA-initiated cancellations or reschedules. No further service is provided by LIDT beyond the original booking.
- You may be able to claim out-of-pocket expenses directly from the DVSA, subject to their rules and eligibility criteria.
